The GREEN Army returns
The Green army departed on the 9th October to Horsham in Sussex for the first day of the Mike Green Presidential tour. The game against Horsham and District Indoor Bowling Club proved to be one of the biggest defeats for Horsham with the Dell tourists scoring over 200 shots.
The Green army were based at the Beach hotel in Worthing and the second day started with Saturday providing superb weather with the tourists having the opportunity to visit the town and then to sit on the hotel balcony for coffee and sunbathing prior to travel to the Adur Club at Southwick, West Sussex where a fine game with a close result and an overall win for the tourists.
Day three started as a dreary overcast day with rain in the air. The tourist departed for the 40 mile journey to the Palmerston Indoor Bowls Club at Fareham, Hampshire. After lunch the game over eight rinks was another good afternoon of bowls with an overwelming win for the tourist again gaining over 200 shots.
Filled with joy (or was it drink), the party returned to Worthing very vocally singing along with Ian, the bus driver's music tape.
The tourists were met by kindness and friendship at all the clubs visited over the weekend and we thank our hosts for a great welcome and hospitality.
The President, Mick Green had requested that all proceeds from the raffles, fines, Quizes, games etc should be donated to his Presidential year charity (Quidenham) and over £500 was raised on the tour.
The tour party thanked Mick Green for such a wonderful weekend and the tour organiser, Alan Cude who had provided a superb programme leading to a very successful and enjoyable tour.
